Robert Waterhouse Execution Today

Robert Waterhouse, on Florida’s Death Row for more than 30 years, is scheduled for execution today at 6 pm. I first became aware of this case when I was researching out Thomas Lafoe’s new Regional Attorney in the case of Jeff Norton’s murder. Here is a link from the Associated Press describing the case.

Proposed Death Penalty Changes in Florida

Jose Baez made several references to changes in Florida law regarding capital murder cases during the Casey Anthony trial.The ruling, likely to be argued in appellate courts for years, does not strike down Florida’s capital punishment law. But it could force lawmakers to change the statute, and could give recent convicts new avenues for appeal, legal experts say

 Death Penalty and Jury BehaviorAs we are on verdict watch for the Casey Anthony trial, the topic of the jury behavior is permeating the air in Central Florida. Social scientists have long studied the effectiveness and fairness of the death penalty. Newer studies have shown that up to 18 lives per execution may be saved due the deterrent factor. They have also studied  jury behavior using scientific methods
